We offer a great itinerary through the
Rome Jewish Ghetto for those who want to see the enormous heritage of the Jewish culture.
|
| |
|
The Rome Jewish community is the oldest in Europe, since appx. 150 b. C.,
when a few people came from the Holy Land to Ancient Ostia, the main Sea-Port of Rome and
built their Synagogue ( now there are beautiful remains of the Old Temple in
Ostia and we can set up a visit of Ancient Ostia: see our section
Ostia & Tivoli ). |
| |
|
On request, we arrange for Jewish Tour
Rome. We may plan to see a couple of itineraries, including also the Portico d'
Ottavia, Tiber Island and Trastevere. Each corner is absolutely fascinating.
|
| |
|
We will find out why the Jewish History of Rome is forever linked to the
History of Rome itself: most of the current local Jewish community - 16.000 appx.
- is more Roman than those who are non Jewish. |
| |
|
We will not tell you here the history of the
Jewish Ghetto in Rome, as we
would need hundreds of pages. We will be pleased to guide you throughout these magnificent
parts of Rome. It is enough to consider that, coupled with a few more areas of Rome,
the Rome Jewish Area is
the most preserved old quarter of Rome downtown. Middle Ages, Legends, Renaissance and Baroque.
